Renewing IUR online service benefits for Microsoft partners

Last reviewed: 18th March, 2016

I recently got asked to describe how to renew IUR online service benefits that are provided to Microsoft partners. This is something that needs to be renewed on a yearly basis, ideally in alignment with the yearly partnership renewal process.

Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be any official documentation from Microsoft that documents the entire procedure. This procedure is also something that you don’t want to get wrong because, once you redeem a subscription, it is difficult to make a change such as transferring the subscription benefit to a different Office 365 tenant.

To provide a better understanding of the process I wrote this short step-by-step guide. This procedure applies to the subscriptions that are accessible within an Office 365 tenant. A different procedure applies to renewing Azure subscription benefits.

Procedure overview

An overview of the procedure is as follows. It should take about 5 minutes to complete.

Step 1: Access the IUR software benefits page

Step 2: View the Microsoft online services benefits table

Step 3: View the product key for the selected service

Step 4: Click on the link to redeem the product benefit

Step 5: Sign in to your tenant

Step 6: Enter the product key

Step 7: Select the option to renew the subscription

Step 8: Redeem the product key

Procedure step-by-step

Step 1: Access the IUR software benefits page

Microsoft partners can access their IUR software benefits via the following URL:

https://www.microsoft.com/msppdd/

You will need to login with a Microsoft account that is associated with your organization. The account will need to be assigned appropriate privileges within the Partner Administration Centre.

Step 2: View the Microsoft online services benefits table

Once there, you will see something like the following. You should now click on the “Microsoft Online Services” tile.

01 Software key and licence benefits

Step 3: View the product key for the selected service

You will now see a table with all the cloud services that you are entitled to. The following figure is a small part of the table showing the Microsoft Office 365 E3 product. You should click on the appropriate link in the “Product Key” column.

Step 4: Click on the link to redeem the product benefit

You should now see something similar to the following. If you expand the benefits you will see that all products keys will expire on your partnership anniversary date.

03 Office 365 E3 product benefit

You should now click on the following link to redeem these tokens:

https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=392523

Step 5: Sign in to your tenant

You should now see something similar to the following. Select the box to indicate that you are the right person to be doing this for your organisation. Click on “Sign in” and login to the correct tenant.

CAUTION: Ensure that you sign in to the correct tenant

04 Redeem product key 1

Step 6: Enter the product key

Within the tenant you will see something similar to the following. Copy and paste the relevant product key and click on “Next“.

05 Redeem product key 2

Note: If you ever need to get back to this screen from within your tenant then you can enter the following URL:

https://portal.office.com/Commerce/ProductKeyRedeem.aspx?paymenttype=1

Step 7: Select the option to renew the subscription

You should now see something similar to the following. Select the option to “Renew your subscription“. Don’t worry too much if the end date doesn’t make sense. Click on “Next” to continue.

06 Redeem product key 3

Step 8: Redeem the product key

View the summary information then click on “Redeem“.

    Thanks for your article.
I miss documentation for an manual to renew Office 365 E3 subscription from Microsoft, too. In my company we have multiple license keys earned from partner and competence status. My first carful try was to renew with one from three keys and found no option to “renew your subscription” …
After an support call with Microsoft it’s comprehensible: If you have more user licensed as your current license code provide, the option is not available. You have to add additional license codes (in Step 6) to reach your number of current licenced users or otherwise you have to remove licenses from users.
    Maybe this helps someone.
